Presentation
Life in History: Beyond Biology, Phenomenology, and the Cognitive Sciences offers a rigorous critique of enactivist cognitive science by situating it within a genealogy that reaches back to the emergence of twentieth-century cybernetic and systems thinking. Against models that tend to formalize life, meaning, and cognition as self-referential processes, the book examines their epistemological and ontological assumptions, as well as the ethical and political consequences of their extension into the social and technological spheres, especially in relation to artificial intelligence. The book challenges the presumed neutrality of these paradigms and brings history, conflict, and exteriority back to the foreground as irreducible dimensions of life and of the human.
